WGAMA / Thermal-Hydraulics Specialists Meeting

We regret to inform you that the meeting in person is cancelled and moved as videoconference.

We take the occasion to thank all of you for your patience and your understanding, and we are very sorry for all of you provided the availability to meet in Madrid to be required to change your planning.

The videoconference is planned on 22-23 March 2022.

"A thermal-hydraulic Specialists Meeting organized by the Working Group of Analysis and Management of Accidents (WGAMA) of Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) - Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) - will be held in CIEMAT Headquarters in Madrid.

Aimed to discuss the recent achievements and the remaining needs of safety research in nuclear reactor thermalhydraulics design and safety, the Specialists Meeting is mostly focused on water cooled reactors and the capability of system codes (3D CFD modelling not excluded, though) and associated uncertainty quantification to capture the key phenomena occurring during transients and accidents: the entire spectrum of activities ranging from basic thermal-hydraulics to application of the Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) approach in licensing is under consideration.

Coupling of thermal-hydraulics with areas like neutron physics, nuclear fuel chemistry and thermo-mechanics, risk assessment and severe accidents (both in reactor and in spent fuel pools) is also within the Specialist Meeting scope. The key (ambitious) objective is streamlining of directions for new activities which, in the following decades, may stepwise improve fundamental understanding of thermal-hydraulics and model capabilities in applications."
